Continental Kennel Club had the opportunity to send one of its field representatives to attend this year’s “Pet Quest.” Seminars, Brusher Bather Certification Program, Animal Behavior Conference, grooming competitions and a trade show were the highlight of Pet Quest 2007, held at the Drawbridge Inn in Fort Mitchell, KY, July 7-8, 2007. Seminars discussing Animal Behavior, Clipper and Blade Emergency Clinic, Financing Your Dreams, Practical Grooming, and The Art and Science of Bathing Pets were just some of the topics covered by a wonderful array of speakers at this year’s Pet Quest. While the main focus was on the grooming profession, there was plenty of information available for all pet professionals.

While all the information was fascinating and useful, quite a few canine professionals found themselves drawn to the seminars presented by renowned author, Sarah Wilson. Ms. Wilson, in conjunction with her husband Brian Kilcommons, has written nine books including My Smart Puppy and Good Owners, Great Dogs. Wilson presented quite a lot of information at her seminar, including many useful tips for making the job of the novice handler as well as the experienced handler safer and more effective.

Representative Denise Williams provided Ms. Wilson with several of the dogs she used for her demonstrations. On hand were Labrador Retrievers Thunder, Duckie, Goose and Tyson, as well as American Pit Bull Terrier, Cowboy. OhKentuckiana Kennel Club Junior Handler, Allison Gibson was able to meet Ms. Wilson on Saturday evening and was invited to come up for Sunday’s portion of the seminar.

Congratulations to all the winners of the grooming competition and thanks to Barkleigh Productions for hosting another fun and informative event.
