Despite unseasonably warm temperatures, several canines and their handlers
turned out for the competition this weekend. Friday night was all about the
big dogs! The weight pull was a tight competition with Zoose attaining Most
Weight Pulled and Kane bringing home the Pound for Pound title. Even with
these exceptional canines, the stand-out was Dineo, whose handler provided
much inspiration as well as entertainment in the fun manner he got Dineo to
pull for him. It was a wonderful example of teamwork as well as the human and
canine bond!
On Saturday, two new junior handlers, Morgan and Lauren Johnson attained
ribbons in the Junior Handler Novice Obedience competition. Allison Gibson
and Jordan Bramblett are neck-in-neck for Junior Handler Advanced Obedience and
Agility. The spring competition should be interesting to see who works their
dogs over the winter in preparation for completing their Advanced Series. Jordan also
started in the Junior Handler Novice Tracking and attained the first two
levels.
This weekend
also brought Thunder, a 10 year old labrador, out to compete in Novice
Tracking/Article Search I and Novice Agility I in order to complete his
Novice Retriever Dog title. He was successful in his endeavor.
Sunday was the day for Tracking/Article Search and Retriever competition.
Congratulations to Tyson for completing Novice Tracking/Article Search II and
Junior for successfully competing in Novice Retriever Dog II. Following the
events at Thunder Vallies Animal House, the competitors went to downtown Georgetown to
participate in the Festival of the Horse Pet Parade. The first 25
participants received gift bags from Continental Kennel Club that included
goodies from Southern States, Thunder Vallies Animal House, Tractor Supply
Company as well as CKC. OhKentuckiana Kennel Club had a nice turnout with
Weight Pulling dogs, Dixie and Kane, pulling
their owner through the route on a pedal cart. Denise Williams brought Goose
and Tyson out to scooter up Broadway and down Main.
The junior handlers were also out in force! Continental Kennel Club
representative, Charlene Rash also participated in the parade and walked an
American Pit Bull Terrier named Cowboy.
A good time was had by spectators and participants alike! Good job to
OhKentuckiana Kennel Club for another fun and exciting event. Thanks to the
sponsors who provided prizes for the prize packs and thanks again to Thunder
Vallies Animal House for providing a venue for the competition!
