OhKentuckiana’s Spring Challenge was a huge success this past weekend. We all started with a Judges Training Seminar on Friday night where club members learned the importance of judging in Obedience, Agility, Tracking/Article Search, Personal Protection, Junior Handler, and Weight Pulling. We were up bright and early Saturday morning for signing in participants to compete in Novice levels of Obedience and Agility. After the trials were over, we took time out to show off our special guest “Armani”, a sweet and gentle 7 year old American Pit Bull Terrier owned by hip hop artist, Bow Wow. Spectators, contestants, and junior handlers even had their picture taken with him. Later in the evening our Weight Pull Specialist came out to show everyone some fundamentals on conditioning and teaching your dog how properly pull a cart. A local news team showed up and did a brief report on our event which ran on the 10 o’clock news. Sunday morning started out with Retrieving and Tracking demonstrations. After lunch the clouds rolled in but that didn’t stop the Junior Handlers from coming out and showing their stuff in Obedience and Agility. Even as the rain fell we had two special Junior Handlers, Elizabeth Herrington and Elizabeth Lawler, who completed all three levels of our Junior Handler Novice
Agility series. After the juniors had wrapped up we concluded the evening by holding a Conformation “fun” show. Overall we had a great time and wonderful turnout. We would like to congratulate everyone who passed their event. We would also like to thank our sponsors who provided prize packs and OhKentuckiana Kennel Club for their hard work to make this event go off without a hitch.
