The Canine Fall Fest 2007 turned out to be a huge success with the weather absolutely perfect for a fall day. Saturday there was fun for the whole family with door prizes, raffles, concessions, balloons, face painting, and a big inflatable slide and jump gym for the kids. The employees of CKC and the spectators were able to dunk the supervisors of CKC in the dunking booth which was fun and a sight to see. CKC's photographer was available to take canine portraits in a fall themed background. One of the local vendors from Bark Avenue Pet Salon was on hand as supporters of the Livingston Chapter Humane Society and was able to get two wonderful dogs adopted into new homes. Saturday morning started out with the CCCP, Obedience, and Agility, and many dogs showed up to compete in these trials. Congratulations to all those who passed and competed in these events. The afternoon brought the Doggie Costume Contest with many eye catching costumes. The winners were a Golden Retriever dressed as Pirates of the Caribbean, a Jack Russell/Fiest mix dressed as a golfer, and a Chihuahua dressed as Crocodile Dundee. Congratulations to the winners, and a big thank you to all that participated. We hope to see you all dressed up again next year. One of Livingston Parish Sherriff’s Officers, Vince Arbour, came out with one of his patrol dogs and demonstrated some of the amazing abilities of these very hard working animals. The audience was able to see the relationship between handler and dog, as well as their dedication to their everyday jobs. Sunday morning Tracking and Article Search and Retriever trials were held with tracking dogs showing their ability to find people and objects that had been hidden on a track that had been laid quite a while before. The retriever trials were great with dogs showing not only obedience but their drive to retrieve the dummies. Sunday afternoon ended the festivities with a Weight Pull with many dogs competing. It was a tough competition. Congratulations to Macho who received the award for “Most Weight Pulled” and to Blu who received the award for pulling the most “Pound for Pound”. We would also like to congratulate Zoose and Blu for obtaining their Weight Pull Champion Titles. We would like to thank everyone who came out and helped make this event such a huge success. We hope to see everyone again next year. |
