Peach State Performance Dogs and Continental Kennel Club welcomed Teus Tijsseling to JaMA Kennels April 22-24 for a professional training seminar. For three full days, Teus shared his knowledge and experience of handling and training dogs. On Friday, he gave instructions on proper ways to train your dog in obedience and agility. Although most of the dogs who came out are already trained in obedience and agility, Teus gave them tips to excel in them. On Saturday, we started bitework sessions. In the morning, the more experienced dogs were given time to show their personal protection skills, followed by carjacking scenarios where the dog and owner were in the car and our decoy played the role of a carjacker. After the carjackings, the young dogs were given a chance to prove they are just as protective as the adults. They were naturals! On Sunday morning, despite the fact that it was much colder than expected for late April, the dogs were ready to work. We started the day with tracking followed by scentwork and article search, and ended the day with basic and advanced problem solving. All around, it was a great weekend (even though I was freezing on Sunday), and I managed to get plenty of pictures of the days events. Check out some of the pictures below, or if you would rather be a part of Teus' gift of training dogs, he will be in Louisiana May 6-8.

Thank you to everyone who came out with their dogs, to JaMA Kennels who are great as usual, and a big thank you to Teus Tijsseling.
