| Appearance: Head: Moderately long and wide, square muzzle. Eyes: Large and soft, hazel in color. Ears: Set moderately low, fairly large, lobe-shaped, carried close to head. Nose: Black and self-colored according to coat. Bite: Scissor or level. Neck: Short, strong and slightly arched. Topline: Level. Chest: Round, rib cage is long and well sprung. Body: Lowest to the ground of all the Spaniel family. Long and somewhat massive. Legs: Bony and muscular, short and strong. Feet: Large and round, hair between toes. Tail: Docked from 5-7 inches, set low, carried level with or below level of back. Movement: Good reach, with well balanced movement. Temperament: Energetic, free-spirited, with good movement. |
